Every Nine Seconds – A Discussion on Domestic Violence

What: Panel discussion addressing domestic and sexual violence

Who: Hosted by Argosy University, Nashville and The Art Institute of Tennessee – Nashville, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta.

Why: According to the Partnership Against Domestic Violence, every nine seconds, a woman in the U.S. is beaten. It’s a sobering reality for one in four women in the U.S. will experience domestic violence in their lifetime, most frequently by someone they know. Almost one out of five, or 16.3%, of murder victims in the U.S. were killed by an intimate partner; Tennessee ranks high (10th) in the nation for the number of women killed by men.

Panelists will address the issue of domestic and sexual violence in the city of Nashville. Panelists include:

LaToya D Townsend: Training & Grant Manager for the Nashville-Davidson County Office of Family Safety
Hailey Everly: Senior Case Manager & Domestic Violence Educator for YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee
