Cocktail Cuts at Denim
Denim, the sophisticated, indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge at The Joseph, a Luxury Collection Hotel, lends an ideal setting for daytime relaxation or a shared toast at sunset. This November, food and cocktail enthusiasts can revel in creative ways to taste, learn and enjoy a spirited evening with loved ones.
Every Tuesday beginning November 10 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. guests can experience Cocktail Cuts, a new, interactive offering. Set at Denim’s impressive marble bar, this new weekly cocktail class series is facilitated by lead barman Daniel Carillo and shares the lore behind some of the world’s most popular cocktails. Showcasing how today’s bartenders place their own embellishments on classic designs to create new favorites, each class includes four cocktail tastings with recipes; small bites such as crudo, oysters, ceviche and focaccia; and a full cocktail of choice to finish. The upcoming lineup promises a journey of flavor through each of its themes:
-Tuesday, November 10 – The Essentials. From the Daiquiri to the Negroni, five essential cocktails are the foundation for many contemporary classics and a must-know for any great at-home bartender. Guests will learn these classic recipes and tips on how to set up their at-home bar for entertaining. (Note: This class features five cocktail tastings.)
-Tuesday, November 17 – Tropical vs. Tiki. Attendees will savor exotic pours in this exciting “rum”-ble between the Caribbean and the South Pacific. They will discover how the ingredients of each region sparked a cocktail revolution and taste rum cocktails, such as the Hotel Nacional and the Zombie.
-Tuesday, November 24 – Whiskey: Stirred, Not Shaken. While the Old Fashioned is a staple amongst whiskey lovers, this spirit-forward classic has a host of relatives. Guests will enjoy a stroll down memory lane to discover the history behind these stirred whiskey favorites and taste how simple additions can accentuate the depth of the spirit.
-Tuesday, December 1 – Agave Traditions. Derived from the agave plant and artfully crafted through age-old traditions, both tequila and mezcal are similar spirits, but with immense differences. Attendees will savor the unique taste and flavors of each in both popular and lesser-known classics and discover what happens when you combine the two into a sizzling concoction.
Cost per class is $105 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Classes are limited in size to eight guests, and social distancing measures are in effect. Reservations are required and are now available online.
