Hatch Show Print Family Block Party
Participants hand–ink and print on paper and fabric using some of Nashville’s most recognizable imagery, cut into printing blocks by the designers at Hatch Show Print. As one of the oldest poster and design shops in America, it's still printing show posters for musicians, bands and performers, one at a time, via letterpress printing. At the Block Party, adults work with a selection of hand-carved printing blocks and become familiar with the process of relief printing. Instructors will cover the basics of composing an image, with consideration given to creating layers and using color. Participants will learn how we sling the ink, roll the brayers and design like it’s 1879, making each piece by hand. All materials are provided, including a blank tea towel or tote bag. Attendees may also bring a T-shirt or other clean, washable item on which to print. (Ages 13 and up)
When you step into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, you will be embarking on a trip through decades of country music history in this architecturally-stunning building.
