is an independent bookstore located in Nashville, TN. It was started by best-selling author Ann Patchett and publishing veteran Karen Hayes.
In Greek mythology, Mount Parnassus was the home of literature, learning, and music. We will be Nashville's Parnassus by providing a refuge for Nashvillians of all ages who share in the love of the written word. We will partner with and support local writers and artists, businesses and institutions. We will strive to bring readers the best books in literature, non-fiction, children's books, local interest and the arts in both printed and digital formats. We will provide venues for writers to connect with readers, and readers to connect with books. By doing this we hope to complement and add to the rich cultural character of the Athens of the South.

Storytime every Saturday. A cool train table. And a secret entrance.
Discovering a love for books has never been this much fun.
Did you know that Parnassus Books was voted The Best Bookstore for Children in the Milky Way Galaxy? We may be exaggerating a little bit, but that's just because we are so excited about our children's section. With books selected from new releases as well as all the classics you loved as a child, there will always be a book that will leave you -- and your little one -- eager for more.
Rick Riordan's newest book? Great time travel books for kids? Let us help you navigate the maze.
When it comes to young readers, a good book can make all the difference in fostering a lifelong love of reading. We'll take the time to figure out what excites the child in your life to help you pick the perfect book, every time. In a rush? Our shelf talkers highlight the books that we've fallen in love with and think you will, too.
