Jimmy Webb: Songs & Stories

Jimmy Webb: Songs & Stories

Dates:
Sun, 06/23/2024 - 7:30pm to 10:45pm

Jimmy Webb has written songs that transcend generations and genres: “Wichita Lineman,” “MacArthur Park,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Didn’t We” and others. The Motown-trained composer writes all of his own lyrics and music and has had hit songs on the pop, country, R&B, rap, disco and new age charts. During this performance, audiences will hear the multi-Grammy winner’s songs and experience his insightful and often humorous stories about his work with Country Music Hall of Fame member Glen Campbell, the 5th Dimension (“Up, Up and Away”), Art Garfunkel (“All I Know”), the Highwaymen (“Highwayman”), Linda Ronstadt (“Still Within the Sound of My Voice”), Frank Sinatra, Kanye West (“Famous” featuring Webb’s “Do What You Gotta Do”) and more. Webb is the author of the memoir The Cake and the Rain and Tunesmith: The Art of Songwriting. In 2019, Webb released a piano-only album, SlipCover, featuring some of his favorite songs from his contemporaries: Billy Joel, the Rolling Stones, Paul Simon and more.
